Primarily you must understand that work from one place should not interfere with work from another place. Your kitchen must be based on Work Triangle theory. Food Storage, Preparation/Cooking and Clean-up Station are three vertex of the triangle. This provides you with enough space to roam into your kitchen easily.
Keep refrigerators, pantry, cabinets, and major items to Food Storage Section. You can add options like Wine Racks, spice racks and roll-out trays to this section.
Your microwave, oven and other small appliances which are necessary in preparation of food can be added to Preparation & Cooking Section.
The third vertex Clean-up Section contains sink, waste disposal, dishwasher etc. For convenience trash bin cabinet and roll-out baskets can also be added to this section.
If you have ample of space in your kitchen, go with breakfast bars and desks. Keep in mind that the color of furniture should be perfect match to walls of your kitchen.
Arrange flower pots at the corner or on to desks with suitable theme. You can put small antique items to the shelves to feel its worth.
Book shelves, phones, computer station and mini entertainment areas are also great addition to kitchen.
